“Congratulations to you all on the success of your first Come and Sing event. Although I had sung both works before I found much that was of interest during the rehearsal….”
” Thank you so much to you all at Norfolk Camerata. I really enjoyed the day, and found the workshop in the morning and then the rehearsal in the afternoon an excellent and interesting concept. The organisation was very good, as was the constant supply of tea/coffee and biscuits….. Thank you, again, for inviting us, and providing an excellent day of singing. “
“…. the highlight of the day was undoubtedly the morning training session when we were put through our technical paces sorting out diction and pitches with someone who really understood how to get the best out of us. Such trainers are rare and that session alone made the day well worthwhile…. Once again many thanks for all the hard work that went into what was a very successful and enjoyable day. It was well worth the effort.”
” I really enjoyed the Come & Sing day, it was great fun, lovely venue and a great programme. The two soloists were outstanding as well, they had wonderful voices both individually and as a blend. I thought all the admin went very well, as did the refreshments organisation and handing out scores. I am surprised to hear that it was the first time you have done it, the organisation seemed very slick to me!”
” Thank you for the Come and Sing day at the Octagon. I very much enjoyed the day and was very impressed with the quality work of the two different musical directors/ conductors. “
A huge thank you to everyone who helped to make our first Come and Sing Day such a success.
We were delighted to welcome many guest singers to the Octagon Chapel in Norwich on Saturday 23rd February for workshops and an evening performance of Handel’s ‘Zadok the Priest’ and Vivaldi’s ‘Gloria’.
Our Musical Director, Jonathan Dodd, was joined by guest conductor Martin Budgett, and we were treated to wonderful solo performances from Elenor Bowers-Jolley and Willow Swiatek.
We are very grateful to our Assistant Director William Falconer, who accompanied the rehearsals as well as performing on organ and keyboard, to the volunteers from the Octagon Chapel, to all Camerata members who helped with organisation, and, of course, to everyone who came and joined us to sing on the day.
A special thank you also to Sonya Dodd and Howard Pullin for all their hard work behind the scenes
Norfolk Camerata marked the start of Advent with a free concert of carols and seasonal songs in St Nicholas’s Church, North Walsham, on 1st December 2018. The programme included familiar Advent pieces such as ‘O Come O Come Emmanuel’ and Bach’s ‘Wachet Auf’ as well as less well known items by composers including Orlando Gibbons and Joseph Fux.
Shortly before Christmas the Camerata spent a very happy afternoon at Barrington Farm near Walcott, providing entertainment for the Christmas party. Barrington Farm is a day centre for adults with learning difficulties and a wonderfully friendly and creative place it is too. About a dozen members of the Camerata donned their Christmas hats and gathered to sing carols under the baton of choir member Ros Peedle. A very enthusiastic audience joined in with the well-known numbers and the choir agreed it was one of the happiest and most appreciative receptions they had ever experienced. After tea and mince pies, both singers and centre staff promised to repeat the event next year and hoped to arrange a summer visit by the Camerata as well.
